Training Course Outline – Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS):
Module 1: AD DS Fundamentals
- Introduction to Active Directory: Understand the purpose of AD DS, its architecture, and its role in a Windows Server environment.
- Logical Structure: Learn about the logical components of Active Directory, including forests, domains, Organizational Units (OUs), and trees.
- Physical Structure: Grasp the physical components of AD DS, such as sites and domain controllers.
- Installation and Deployment: Learn how to install and configure the AD DS role on a server to create a new domain or add a new domain controller.
Module 2: Objects and Administration
- User and Group Management: Master the creation, modification, and deletion of user accounts and security groups. Understand the different types of groups and their uses.
- Computer Management: Learn to add computers to the domain, manage computer objects, and use PowerShell for automation.
- Delegation of Control: Understand how to delegate administrative permissions to other users to decentralize management without compromising security.
Module 3: Group Policy
- Introduction to Group Policy: Understand what Group Policy Objects (GPOs) are and how they are used to manage user and computer settings.
- GPO Processing and Scope: Learn about the order in which GPOs are applied (LSDOU) and how to control their application using filtering and inheritance.
- GPO Management: Get hands-on experience with creating, linking, and managing GPOs to enforce security policies and software installations.
Module 4: Advanced AD DS Features
- Replication and Sites: Learn how to configure Active Directory sites to optimize network traffic and manage replication between domain controllers.
- Forest and Domain Trusts: Understand how to establish and manage trusts between different domains and forests to enable resource sharing.
- AD DS Security: Explore advanced security concepts, including authentication protocols (Kerberos), Fine-Grained Password Policies, and auditing.
Module 5: Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Backup and Recovery: Learn how to perform a backup of AD DS and understand the procedures for restoring it in case of a disaster.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Use built-in tools to monitor the health and performance of domain controllers and learn how to diagnose and resolve common AD DS issues.
- Additional Services: Get an overview of other related services, such as Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) for managing public key infrastructure and Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) for single sign-on.
